The Dan River Company’s riverside facility adjacent to Hanging Rock State Park’s Dan River Access provides canoe and kayak rentals that include transportation.

After rollin’ down the river put away the paddle and pick up a pint at The Green Heron Alehouse. The first and only Alehouse in Stokes County and the favorite place for many hikers, mountain bikers, paddlers, road bikes, and sports car clubs to cap off their adventure with a cold one from one of our 20 taps of ales, beers, cider. This year we expanded our wine selection to include 8 wines ON TAP! Come on by and give them a try. Have a great domestic brew line up as well… and great tales of the day’s events.
If you are looking for even more places to relax along the river just up the road in Mount Airy (Mayberry) check out the Whistling Duck Ale House. Located along the greenway and the Ararat River, they are the perfect place to stop, relax and enjoy a selection of 20 craft ales on tap as well as 6 varieties of select wines on tap.
And if you are not ready to call it a day the Greenway Outdoor Center offers bicycle rentals to cruise around the greenway, paddle board rentals for the Ararat River. They also have a selection of outdoor gear, including clothing, bags, and fishing gear.
